Play, Learn, Remember: Interactive Design and Creative Thinking

Creative learning often begins with curiosity. The session “Play, Learn, Remember” explored how interactive design can encourage people to think differently about materials, colour and the stories objects carry.

Participants engaged with hands-on activities designed to prompt observation, experimentation and reflection. By working directly with colour palettes, textures and forms, the session demonstrated how design thinking can move beyond theory and become something people experience and remember. A strong example of this was our International Women’s Day event we were selected to host at Makerversity, Somerset House, where participation, conversation and discovery came together in a memorable way.

This approach reflects how Ayana Jade works more broadly. Through our Jewellery collections, we explore how colour, material integrity and thoughtful design can come together in objects created to last. Our pieces are designed and made in the UK using undyed jadeite (fei cui) jade and recycled precious metals, each stone carrying its own character and visual identity.

Interactive learning also shapes our digital Education & Advisory work. Organisations today are looking for practical ways to strengthen capability in circular design, materials strategy and responsible innovation. Sessions that combine conversation with hands-on exploration often unlock deeper understanding than presentations alone.

When people are invited to play, experiment and question assumptions, design becomes more than a process. It becomes a way of seeing problems differently and creating solutions that people trust and value.
